How much to travel to Hong Kong?

I live in Washington D.C. and I would like to go to Hong Kong one day, hopefully for a week stay. Around how much am I looking at spending in airfare plus hotel stay. I went on Orbitz and did a hypothetical search of me leaving today for a week, it was around USD $3000-$4000. So much should I save up for a week so it covers everything from page and stay to daily spending? I don't want an exact figure but a ballpark number would be good so I can have for reference.
