Why does a man leave when refused ?

i recently met a man,we went out on a date where we had drinks (me,one--he,a few) i live right next door to the cafe where we met- we went up to my apt ostensilbly to retreive my identification because we were refused entrance to a bar-also right next door to my apt. we wound up staying put in my apt. and chatted for a little while until he ,very tired and fairly inebriated,asked if he could sleep on the sofa. i said yes. the next morning we woke up and chatted on the open sofabed for quite a while. he touched me affectionately several times without being too grabby or overly ual but when he became a little too much so (trying to lay on top of me) i gently but clearly asked him not to--i had only met him some 12 hours prior. after that happened,he promptly up and left while letting me know that he hadn't had in a year. as an aside, before that, he said several times how happy he was that we met and wound up spending time together. i haven't heard from him since.
